Transcription:

This Indenture made this twentyeth day of may in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven by and between Samuel Arvin and Nancy his wife of the County of Jackson and State of Ohio, of the one part and Drusillia Coplin of the County of [] and State aforesaid of the other part. Witness that the said Samuel Ervin and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained, sold, released and conveyed and do by these presence give grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Drusilly Coplin and to her heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land situate and being in the County of Athens and State of Ohio, it being a part of Fractional Lot number nineteen in Section No. twenty of Township No. nine and of Range No. sixteen of the Ohio Company's Purchase bounded as follows to wit beginning eighty rods East from N.W. corner of Fraction No nineteen thence South fifty seven rods thence East twelve degrees South thirty rods on to the chanel of the Creek thence up the middle of said Creek to the North line of said Fraction, thence West on said line to the place of beginning, supposed to contain thirty acres be the same more or less
To have and to hold the afore described with all the privileges and [] as there unto belonging or [] appertaining unto hir the said Drusilly Coplin and unto hir heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel Ervin and Nancy his wife for themselves and for their hiers executors and administrators do covenant and [] to and with the said Drusilly Coplin hir heirs and assigns that they the said Samuel Ervin and Nancy his wife are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that they have good write and lawful authority to [sel] and convey the [] in manner aforesaid and that the premises are clear of and from all incumbrances whatever and further that the said Samuel Ervin and Nancy his wife will and truly warrant and forever defend the premises herein and hereby granted unto the said Drusilly Coplin and to her heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person howsoever. In testimony where of the said Samuel Ervin and Nancy his wife parties of the first - have hereunto set their hand [] the day and year above written

State of Ohio Athens County - Personally appeared before the subscribed Justice of the Peace in and for said County, Samuel Ervin and Nancy Ervin his wife signers of the within deed of conveyance and by me personally known to be the persons they represent themselves to be and [] acknowledged the seizing and sealing thereof to be [thein] act and deeds for the purposes therein expressed the said Nancy Ervin being separate and apart from her husband and thus [contends] to her made known she acknowledged that she executed the same truly and that she is still satisfied therewith.
