Hello:

I am new to this website.  In researching my mother's maiden name, Hutchinson, I sponsored a male relative by name of Hutchinson for the familytreedna Y67 test.  When the results came in, we found out that we did not match with Hutchinsons but matched 66/67 markers with the Borders model on the ClanIrwin website.  We were advised there must have been a NPE.  Our earliest known ancestor is Henry Hutchinson and the only info we have for him is from the 1850 federal census from Erwin, NY.  Per this census, Henry was 51 years old and from NJ  Other household members listed were Becky, 35, Samuel, 10, Elizabeth, 6, Ross 5, George 3 and Scott 10/12.  I believe that the NPE ocurred at Henry's generation since I don't think it's a coincidence that Henry lived in Erwin, NY and his closest neighbors were Erwins.  Some of is children also had what I believe are Erwin names Samuel, Scott, Ross and my great great grandfather, George Washington Hutchinson.  The male relative who took the test was also George Hutchinson who was a great grandson of our earliest know ancestor Henry Hutchinson.  I believe our Henry Hutchinson is connected with Colonel Arthur Erwin who emigrated in 1768 from Ireland to Bucks County Pa with his first wife Mary Scott Erwin, several children and his brother William.  Colonel Arthur founded Erwinna in Bucks County, PA and also founded Erwin in Steuben County, NY.  I am listing the results of the Y67 DNA test in the hopes that there could be a match with someone.  I would also be willing to sponsor a Y67 DNA test for a documented  male descendant of Colonel Arthur Erwin by the name of Erwin.  As mentioned, I am posting the Y67 DNA results below and I would love to have replies from anyone reading this who may have info, or advice on how I might proceed.  I realize  I will never uncover all the particulars about how the name change took place, I would just like to find out out what larger Erwin line we belong to.  I can be reached at bethm@mail.com

Thanks,

Beth Mansfield

Welcome

Hi Beth,

Thanks for writing, you have an intersting story!

I've published the DNA marker results for our users to see and compare and I've made some comments regarding his matches over in the DNA section.

Most of our members have only had the 37-marker test done, but there is one member who matches with yours with a genetic distance of -2.  He is from Austrailia.

Do you have a death date for Henry?

Henry Hutchinson 66/67 match with Erwin

Thank you for the welcome.  I believe Henry is buried up in Painted Post, Steuben County, NY.   A cousin of mine actually saw the grave and I believe the date was around 1884 or 1885.

Thanks,

Beth M.
